Burn calories without leaving your home

1 August, 2019 by Isabel Okhuijsen

Burn calories lose weight

Our busy agendas together with this overwhelming summer heat often keep us from training like we should. Wanting to lose weight and feeling like you just can’t can become incredibly frustrating. However, it’s not impossible. You can burn calories from home, and most of the time you won’t even realize you are actively trying to do so.

In this heat, the only options available seem to be swimming in the pool or in the sea, which is not always possible. Now you can burn calories from home almost without effort. However, don’t forget to keep exercising: burning calories from time to time is not enough.

Jumping

Rope jumping

It almost seems like a stupid exercise, but it is actually really effective. It is an amazingly complete exercise and you can do it at home with nothing but a rope. The best thing you can do is jump for 35 minutes, but if you feel like you’re not ready you can choose to carry it out in intervals. You jump for 5 minutes, and rest for 1. It’ll take a bit longer, but it’s just as effective.

Dancing

Put on your favorite tunes and let loose. Dance away! It’s the best and most fun way of burning calories. Latin rhythms are the ones that burn the most calories, especially if you get really into it. Plus, it’ll allow you to relieve stress and feel better once you’re done.

Give your house a makeover

Changing up of your house can also be really effective. Pushing around furniture and changing the decoration is really a strong calorie-burner. Only 50 minutes of doing this will make you burn around 300 calories. You’re obviously not going to do this every day, but it’s a good idea to do once you run out of Netflix movies on the weekend. And you get to change the appearance of your apartment, which is also nice from time to time.

Use the stairs

This one is great if you live in a flat with a lot of stairs. Stop taking the lift and take the stairs instead. It won’t take up any extra time, so it’s a great option for people with busy schedules. It’s not the cardio you want, but the one you need.

Watch a scary movie

This is no joke. There are studies that prove that scary movies make us lose weight because of the stress they cause. The best movie you can watch if you want to burn calories is “The Shining“. It can apparently make you burn up to 200 calories. Amazing, isn’t it?
