How to finally get the flat stomach you’ve always wanted

27 June, 2019 by Isabel Okhuijsen

Flat stomach

How many times have you caught yourself day-dreaming about that flat stomach you’ve always wanted? But endless gym hours, and doing ab exercises until you drop dead just seems like too much of a hassle. No pain, no gain, right?

We show you how you can finally get that super-flat-perfect-abs stomach without drowning in crunches and dying in the process.

Work on your strength

Strength

Experts confirm that working on our strength helps us lose body fat all over, which is why they recommend paying that part of the gym a visit at least three times a week. When we work on our strength, we build muscle tissue. It is often thought this will just make you look bulky; but that’s a myth.

There is a reason why building muscle helps us lose weight: muscle tissue burns a lot of calories. Experts claim that 10 pounds of muscle can burn 50 calories a day spent at rest.

HIIT training

Running

We all know that cardio is a must if you want to burn calories. However, there are different types of cardio and you have to find out which is best for you. A great option for getting a flat stomach is HIIT training. This type of exercise skyrockets your metabolism and gets your abs on point.

HIIT stands for high intensity interval training which is all about, as its name implies, intense exercise with intervals. This type of training will improve your stamina and burn fat efficiently.

Eat natural foods

Eating

Nutrition plays a big part in how we look. If we eat healthily we will also look healthy. Unfortunately, processed foods are consumed in great quantities nowadays, most of them being rich in sodium, which will cause you to feel bloated and sabotage your weight loss journey.

This is why you should stick to natural foods instead of buying packaged meals. You will quickly see an improvement, as besides looking good, you’ll also feel better.

Fat-burning foods

Fat burning food

This one goes hand in hand with the point above. There are certain foods that speed up fat burn, like for example blueberries, salmon, oats, or green leafy vegetables. Try to eat them as often as you can, as they will leave you feeling satiated and energized, also causing you to eat less often.

Relax from time to time

Yoga

One of the worst things for our body is stress: it truly is our number one enemy. Stress causes a hormone called Cortisol to be secreted, which holds onto fat immensely. Plus, stress causes a lot of people to eat more than they normally would. All in all, this means that on top of eating more, we also store more of that fat, completely ruining our diets.

Take part in relaxing activities like yoga or meditation. Even going out with friends can be a great anti-stress weapon. Let yourself feel great. Again, if you feel good you will look accordingly. This is the excuse to start enjoying life a bit more!

Water is key

Water

Drinking a lot of water will keep you from feeling bloated, which is something none of us like, really. Water helps your water retention to decrease, allowing you to feel lighter. Plus, if you drink more water you’re more likely to feel satiated which means you will ingest less food. Less food equals less calories.

It’s worth noting that a great trick that will stimulate your digestive system is adding some lemon juice to your water. The acid inside your stomach will also be compensated. Lemon is amazing in what your health concerns.
