Having a six-pack or simply a flat stomach seems to be a wide-spread aim nowadays. However, it can sometimes be hard to achieve, especially if we already have a beer belly. If this is your case, we tell you how you can best get rid of it here. Working on your abs is often not enough on its own, but definitely necessary.

Abdominal exercises can be dangerous

The problem is that if we are not used to doing abs correctly, or simply don’t know how to do them, it can quickly become harmful for our health. Even if we make sure we do them right, it can still cause us back or neck pains. But this doesn’t mean you have to start worrying now. You can still work on your dream body. The key to success has the name of “hypopressive exercises”.

Strong core

Respiratory apnea

Hypopressive exercises are specific type of movements you do with your core. These exercises strengthen the muscle found in your abdomen, not only superficially, but also more deeply. But they are not as easy as we might think. Hypopressive exercises work through respiratory apnea, which means that you train with completely empty lungs.

How you should carry out the exercises

You should start off thinking about the right posture. For example, stand up straight with your feet parallel to each other. Then, you proceed to empty your lungs completely, avoiding inhalation. The exercise consists in moving as though you were breathing back in without actually breathing in air. You should feel your ribs opening and your belly button moving towards your spine.

The benefits of hypopressive exercises

Working on hypopressive exercises has many benefits. It will improve your posture and tone your core. You’ll also notice how your waist shrinks. It’s also a good way of preventing hernias of all sorts. See it for yourself! But make sure you always ask a professional first.
