Working out at the gym alone can be a daunting experience, especially if it’s your first time. Even for those who are well-experienced in the gym, it can be exhausting trying to motivate yourself to exercise solo. This is where attending gym classes can be your saving solution. Most gyms offer a range of classes, from Ab classes to Zumba, making it easier to find a class that’s right for you. That said, if you are looking for a workout that will burn the fat and help you see the results, you should sign up for one of these gym classes ASAP!
HIIT Classes
HIIT, the abbreviation for high-intensity interval training, is a super efficient workout that involves giving 100% effort in short bursts, followed by quick recovery time. Typically in these classes, there is a circuit that involves different cardio, bodyweight, and lightweight exercises. The point of HIIT isn’t to use heavy weights, but rather maintain a high intensity with multiple repetitions.
Hiit classes are an amazing addition to your weekly workout routine for numerous reasons. For one, your body will burn more fat, both during the workout and up to 24-hours after! Second, it combines cardio with strength exercises, meaning your heart will be pumping and your muscles will get toned. Finally, we love HIIT because it is one of the most powerful workouts you can do in the shortest time possible.
Spinning Classes
Spinning (indoor cycling) is a fun music-filled way to target your lower body. Depending on the class and instructor, some spinning classes focus on endurance and others on speed. Both however can burn tons of calories– over 600 in one session!
In addition to getting noticeable muscle definition in your legs, spinning classes are a good option for their design flexibility. Although there is an instructor to push and guide you, the true difficulty of the class is based on how hard you want it to be (thanks to the manual resistance dial). It’s also very low impact, which is important for people who suffer from joint or bone issues.
Boxing Classes
Before you write off this class for fear of being the victim of a Rocky remake, boxing is a safe, calorie burning exercise available at many gyms. While some will get you in a ring, most classes are based on pad and bag work, with strength and conditioning exercises mixed in. We are talking LOTS of core work!
In addition to burning fat as well as a HIIT workout, boxing will increase your strength throughout your whole body. You’re reflexes, speed, and coordination will also improve dramatically. That’s not all- boxing is probably one of the greatest stress relievers. There’s nothing like coming from an overwhelming meeting at the office, only to finish the day punching out all of your emotions!
