Since Coronavirus hit the world last March, almost every aspect of our lives has changed. with that, our habits and routine. Besides the pandemic itself, lockdown had a huge impact on people and businesses, including gyms. So, if you have no where to workout, what do you do? As a result, a new form of fitness emerged, revolving around Virtual, and home workout. So, how did our training life change drastically? Here is what experts have to say.
You Work Out More at Home
The lockdown made us realize that we had to find an alternative to gyms. It was either doing it from home, or not doing it at all. For that reason, home gyms became a global trend. Moreover, the fact that we had so much free time at home for so long created extra-workout time. According to recent stats, ”Thirty-three percent of consumers in communities with continued COVID-19 restrictions report working out more.”
New Expectations for Fitness Parks
On the other hand, fitness businesses all suffered a major setback with COVID-19. And it wasn’t only due to the fact that they had to be out of business for months. In fact, when they re-opened, they had to deal with new restrictions. Consumers showed new expectations, which most of them were regarding safety and hygiene guidelines. The new factor became cleanness and crowds. This has of course affected fitness parks mostly, as they are designed to fit thousands of people, which is no longer an option in pandemic times.
Growing Dependence on Virtual Content
As a result of home gyms, virtual and streaming workout sessions skyrocketed during the pandemic. In 2019, only 7% of fitness enthusiasts streamed trainings. However, starting March 2020, this increased to over 80%. Besides lack of equipement, working out at home has its downsides. For beginners, it was crucial to resort to streamed trainings. As a result, fitness instructors, trainers and even celebrities joined and this movement, and provided free workout routines on their social media platforms.
Psychological Fallback Changed Diets
In addition to all this, one of the less unpopular reasons our fitness changed is due to psychological damage. it has been made clear by experts that the lockdown lowered creativity and increased depression rates. However, the biggest coping mechanism most of us used, was food. Consequently, we started stress-eating and slowly changing our diet.
