Atalanta Could Be The surprise Of This Champions League

20 July, 2020 by Sahar Ajjab

Have you heard of an Italian football team called Atalanta Bergamasca Calcio? Given their records, they haven’t always been a threat to their opponents. However, this year, they are feared by all European teams. In fact, when the Champions League returns in August, Atalanta BC could be the surprise of this edition, and a potential game changer.

Atalanta Didn’t Loose Any Match In The UCL This Year

Although this team’s trajectory in the Champions League has always been short, this year they have made it to the quarter-finals. In fact, they faced enormous opponents such as Manchester City, in an encounter that ended with a 1-1 tie.

Furthermore, Atalanta BC won twice against Valencia in the round of 16. The Spanish giant known for their hunger for titles, and the fact that their quality players and philosophy, have always been a threat in the Europe. If anything, this shows that Atalanta are on the right track to a possible first UCL title in their history.

How Dangerous Will They Be In The Quarter Finals?

So, could this small Italian club really be the surprise of this year’s champions league’s quarter- finals? Or will they slowly disappear under the tyranny of Real Madrid? according to the UEFA, the last time a team reached quarter-finals on their European debut, was Leicester city in 2017, the year in which they were crowned England’s champions.

Atalanta however, are ahead of a great challenge. As they face PSG in a one-game quarter finals, they have the chance to reach the golden square if they win. Yes, on paper it seems like a tough one, but football is full of surprises.

Atalanta Are Wining Big In Serie A

On the other hand, Atalanta BC are not on fire only on the European level. In fact, they are third in the race for the Italian football league title (Series A.) In addition, they proved to be a tough rival, collecting important points, especially from the leader of the series A. Juventus. Atalanta has also been giving top performance, scoring lots of goals and receiving just a few.

If you had to bet right now for this year’s Champions League finalists, would you take the risk and bet on Atalanta BC?
