Feel Like A Princess And Tone Your Whole Body With Mermaid Classes

23 August, 2019 by Taylor Swift

Ever wanted to feel like a real mermaid, Princess Ariel style? While we can’t guarantee any singing fish and lobsters, there is the opportunity to feel like a tailed goddess with Mermaid Fitness Classes. This trend has grown to be available in various hotels and schools around the world, including Spain, Japan, England, USA and more. Although being a mermaid looks all glamour, you’ll be shocked by how challenging it is! Here is a break down of what to expect from a Mermaid Fitness Class.

The Start Of “Mermaiding”

The idea of creating a fitness class using a swimmable human-size mermaid tail was started by the company, Fin Fun Mermaid. If you choose to attend a mermaid class at any location that offers it around the world, you will be loaned a colorful tail to use. However, you can also purchase these tails for your own use via their website, and even follow online workouts!

Although it sounds glamorous to wear a sparkly tail, “mermaiding” is actually a very difficult sport that works your entire body. The underwater movements have extra resistance, and to move forward you have to really emphasize moving your core to propel forward.

The Format Of A Mermaid Workout

A mermaid workout is perfect for toning your whole body, because it include more than just swimming. Typical classes also include strength training, core, and cardio exercises that keep your heart rate pumped while also having fun. Once you shimmy on the tail (which is more difficult than it looks), an instructor will introduce you to the basic swimming movements required, both on your stomach and back. Many classes also provide pool noodles to use for bicep curls underwater to get the extra burn.

The workouts don’t take place only in the water. Most mermaid fitness classes require participants to get out (another arm burning activity) to do core exercises on the side of a pool. Even those who are a pro at reverse crunches will find the move a challenge with a weighted wet mermaid tail on!

A Tail-Flipping Good Time!

Bottom line, when it comes to working out it’s important to have fun in the process too. A mermaid workout is perfect for anyone who wants to splash a little salty fun to their normal exercise routine. After working your core and whole body in a 45-minute class, you’ll feel ready to star in your own Disney movie!
