How To Workout During Lunch (And Not Return A Sweaty Mess)

9 September, 2019 by Taylor Swift

If you dread waking up early for a morning workout, or can’t possibly make it to the gym at night because of you (and your family’s) schedule, a midday workout might be for you. Many people actually feel more energized midday, which can help boost you to being productive during your lunch break. Additionally, getting in some exercise during the day can help you think more clearly and creatively when heading back to the office. The problem? With only an hour or so to workout, there’s a great chance you’ll return looking like a sweaty mess if you don’t prepare your time well. To ensure you can both a) get in a decent workout and b) return to work looking like a put-together human, we have provided these tips.

Keep Clean Workout Clothes At Work

Keeping a clean set (or several) of workout clothes at your work ensures that you both are clean when you workout and post sweat session. This is important so that bacteria from your sweat does not stay on your body the whole day, possibly causing skin conditions and yeast infections.

Find A Nearby Gym Or Workout That Motivates You

This should be obvious, but having a gym or studio near your work is crucial for maximizing your workout time. This way you will be able to get in a longer session and feel less pressed for time. Additionally, given the effort required to leave work, change clothes, and come back, you should choose workouts that actually motivate you to get them done. If you find it hard to lead yourself through a workout, you have several options, including getting a personal trainer, using an application, or going to specialized classes.

“Fake” Wash Your Hair

Washing your hair might feel great after a sweaty gym session, but when you rush to the office looking like a wet rat for the rest of the day, you’re sure to feel a little more self conscious. The best alternative for time is to use some dry shampoo in your hair, and tousle it under a hair dryer. You’ll fool everyone into thinking you just stepped out of a salon!

Pre-Pack Your Lunch

Deciding to use your lunch break to get in a workout, doesn’t mean you can skip lunch altogether. In fact, skipping food after a workout is really bad for your overall health and fitness goals. That said, the best way to get the best of both worlds is by packing your lunch the night before with the proper refuel. Just make sure to remember to pack it! This way you’ll be able to better recover and not feel hangry for the rest of your work day. Your body (and co-workers) will thank you.
